Our Team

I am an Iowa native and attended Iowa City High School. I have an extensive background in retail and joined the REC team in June of 2022. I wanted a career that would continuously challenge me and would allow me to make personal connections with the public. I have really enjoyed getting to know the wonderful staff at Roggy and the amazing patients! Outside of work I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors with my family, and baking new desserts with my son!

Dr. Kathy Hotsenpiller majored in biology and earned her undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in Ohio in 1995. After doing cancer research and coordinating oncology clinical trials for four years, she decided to go to optometry school in Chicago. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2003. She earned her Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in 2020. She not only enjoys primary eye care but also enjoys fitting patients who have keratoconus or corneal scarring with specialty contact lenses. “The most rewarding thing about fitting patients with scleral lenses is seeing the smile on their faces after they realize how much better they can see!” In her free time, Dr. Hotsenpiller enjoys hot yoga, traveling, and visiting National Parks with her family.

With experience in both ophthalmology and optometry, Aly is an incredible asset to our practice and great at everything from helping you put contact lenses in for the first time to helping you with vision therapy!  When she's not in our clinic, you may catch her being the World's #1 Aunt or showing off her great talent at doing nails. 

Coming from a background in dermatology, Emma is a phenomenal technician who specializes in dry eye and has a passion for educating patients.  Outside of work, Emma is active in the local theatre community and a music enthusiast who always has exciting stories to share about her experiences!
 

Our jack of all trades, Maria is a ray of sunshine that you can find helping someone just about anywhere in the office.  She is a wonderful optician with a keen eye for style but also has years of experience as a technician and may guide you through some of the most fun ocular testing you've ever had!  In her "free time", Maria is known for always making plans with friends and family and getting involved in her local events. 
 

Born and raised in Texas, I haven't dropped the 'y'all' even after bebopping around the country obtaining my degree in Business Management. With an extensive background in restaurant management, I cherish every day I'm privileged to spend in the medical field making a difference. I'm happy to help you out in any area of the clinic and I'm always game for hearing about your weekend plans, seeing pictures of your animals, or any discussions about Disney!
